Our patron saint Dana de Milo

We are delighted to announce that the new op shop will be named in honour of our patron saint Dana de Milo, who’s generation of trans women risked their freedom daily, in a time when wearing women’s clothing would result in being arrested.

Dana has been a true advocate for trans equality for over 50 years, and continues to work for our communities both in her roles at New Zealand Prostitutes Collective and Drugs Project and in her personal life.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to Dana for her part in gaining us the recognition, rights, freedoms, and humanity that we now enjoy, and her consistent awhi and tautoko of trans people and community projects.
